Window climbing...

This photo was taken out the car window as I waited patiently to join the traffic on Clifton Road. The purpose was to record my admiration for the window cleaners who are much in evidence, regardless of the weather and often in precarious circumstances. This chap has left his ladder and has a foothold on the masonry above the window! What's the name of that body which monitors safety in the workplace in NZ??

I must say the local windows are almost unnaturally sparklingly clean. Much unlike my windows at home.

My Dad used to talk of the coal men in Glasgow who would heft bags of coal up many flights of stairs in the tenement buildings. Which reminds me, as a child, of watching the men empty huge bags of Strongman coal into my Nana's coal box. Interestingly, my Clifton neighbours have just had a second clean wood burner installed... which may say something about shifting perspectives on heating...??
