On track...

I walked to The National Railway Museum this morning, more because it seemed to be something I should do, rather than something I was deeply interested in.* My mistake. I was blown away by the size, scope, and sheer fascination of the place. I loved the big engines, the warehouse (open to the public), the model railway, the amazing technology everywhere in evidence. Above all I loved the fact that the museum was full of children who were having a ball. Excited, engaged and clearly learning.

In fact I have to admit to being seduced by the sheer power of technology and mechanical inventiveness. Plus I had forgotten how big train engines can be - and how beautiful in their own way.

*This sense of obligation was maybe compounded by the fact that my Clifton next-door-neighbour Don works at the museum, as does Jenny's (friend of Sue with whom I had coffee yesterday) partner!
