I trotted into town early yesterday morning thinking the Merchant Adventurers' Hall was open free of charge as part of Residents' Weekend, only to discover that it was closed for a private function and that I had confused it with the Merchant Taylors' Hall! (which I saw later). Never mind. I wandered around the exterior of this lovely 14/15th century building and then, just as I was leaving, a procession of distinguished gents (if you click on the photo you will see one woman) emerged. I waited and followed them around the corner and snapped. Back out on Fossgate there was an elderly gentleman standing opposite the MAH. At first I thought he was sheltering but, as I was waiting for a shop to open and as he remained there and was still there sometime later, I think he was a kind of watchman. Watching me ;-)
Right beside the entrance to The Merchant Adventurers' Hall was a shop with the lovely name of.... (wait for next installment).
